Cadence at the park with Cooper

We had a fun playdate yesterday morning with our buddies Cooper and Anne Marie at the playground.

Cadie and Cooper man the decks.

Cooper is often very protective and big brother-y to Cadie. He's a year older and much taller. Here, he spontaneously took her hand to lead her around the playground.

Cadence has finally learned that slides are fun! She went down this one over and over, all by herself.

Looks to me like she had a great time.

Back in NC

Cadence and I are back in NC, and I'm back at work. We'll probably be doing the back and forth until mid-October, unless things really start hopping with the house. I think we all feel conflicted about this. I sort of like being at work, seeing people, catching up with friends, going to Target (ahem). Cadie seems fairly happy to be somewhere more familiar, though seriously lacking furniture. It helped her that Nana was here for several days, but Nana has gone back to GA now. Of course we miss Matt, but because we're not there, he's been able to put a lot of attention on planning for the school year and getting things off on the right foot. I am also sorry that we are missing opportunities to make friends in GA.

One of the nice things about coming back to NC last week is that we got to visit with my Grandma, Aunt Karen, and Uncle John (and their dog, Lacey) at my family's mountain cabin. See?

New house

Well, here we are! Living in an 100 something year old farm house, next to the cow pasture.
Rainey the cat is very happy here, back in the land of his birth. He likes to sleep in the window seat in the living room.
Cadie is enjoying playing with Dassa while Matt and I work on unpacking. She was excited about her new bike and our big front porch (even though the porch is covered in boxes).
We were happy to find that there are a slew of blueberry bushes in the middle of the school campus that are free for the taking. We went picking a couple of days ago and got quite a haul. Cadie and Dassa washed them for me, and I've made a blueberry crisp and blueberry muffins and there's still many more to freeze!
More pictures to come soon!
