Me at 38 weeks

We'll be really happy to have all that random stuff in our apartment put to rights in the new house...

Speaking of the new house, this is it! It's big. Only one more day and then we're officially homeowners again, and baby girl will get a nursery!

12 days to go...

Baby Girl's due date is in 12 days! That's soon!

We're closing on our new house on Friday and moving on Saturday. We have lots of helpers, so I shouldn't have to do a thing besides tell people what to do and eat. (Ha! We'll see - I think I'm going to want to put the nursery together right away!)

Pictures soon!

I still make things, part 2

Well, the only thing I made in this picture is the pink flannel elephant toy in the glider. And you can't see it very well, but it's cute and soft and I worked hard on it. It's from a pattern in the book Last Minute Quilted and Patchwork Gifts, which I got from the library a while back. You could also say I "made" the decision to buy the glider, and that I "made" Matt put it together. We got it from Wal-mart for a much better price than the gliders at Babies R Us and it is very comfy. I like to go in the room with all of baby girl's things and just sit in it.
Baby Girl's Dresser. Again, I didn't really make this. It was mine when I was a kid. Back then, it was plain wood until I put a Strawberry Shortcake sticker on it. Then, in college, I painted it (badly) with cream and green paint. At our house in GA, it lived in the garage holding old towels and some gardening supplies. So, we cleaned it really well, picked out a nice paint color (it's called Old-Fashioned Pink), and Matt painted it a few weekends ago.
I did "make" the choice of these drawer pulls all by myself. They're plastic, but they look like the old-fashioned glass ones and I thought it added a nice bit of fanciness for baby girl. They're from Target, where I also got a matching wall hook and I think they have matching drapery rods, which we'll get for her new room. I can't buy them yet, because I don't remember how many windows her room has!

I still make things, part 1

I have an idea to post some pictures of things I've made for the newest member of our family. With all that's going on, we'll see how much I can actually do...

Anyway, this is a dress I made for baby girl right after we found out she was a girl...

We are buying a house...we think

We deliberated for days and decided to go for it. Once the contract arrives, we will be in the process of buying a house that is more than we could ever want. It's big and pretty and has a nice backyard with a swingset in a nice neighborhood. It's scary to commit to something like this, even if we can afford it. I'm nervous about getting moved before a certain little lady makes her debut.

Updates

Quickly...

We had a counteroffer from the sellers on the big house. We have counteroffered with our best - they probably won't take it. We'll see.

I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow. I am feeling like I really need to get things ready, like the bag for the hospital and supplies for coming home and such. I want to post more pictures of the baby prep this weekend.

Baby Name Game #16

Okay, this is it! The baby name game is officially finished with this clue. If you think you know, feel free to contact me or Matt for confirmation or denial. I think I'd prefer if name guesses not appear in the comments for privacy reasons.

Good news!

While we've been officially under contract to sell our house since last week, we've still been a little nervous our buyer will back out. Well, on Friday we finalized the details to move up the closing (at her request) to next Tuesday! We are really, finally selling our house!

Also, we've made an offer on a house here. It's a beautiful, very large house that is more than we need, but that we think we could use well, and grow into. Our offer was quite a bit lower than the asking price, so there's a good chance the sellers just won't be willing to compromise. They've been out of the house for a year (we know how that feels), but we don't know their situation, though the neighbors told us they are close to foreclosure.

Anyway, we've just been praying a lot around here, and feeling blessed!
